Travel information and permits

Flights depart daily from Atlanta (Delta Airlines) or New Jersey (United Airlines) and fly directly to Johannesburg, South Africa. When you arrive, you will transfer to a domestic flight the following day and fly to your final stop, We recommend Airlink its regional airline for your flight to Port Elizabeth . Upon arrival to PE  our team will will meet you in PE and drive you to the lodge.

NOTE: You will need the following: Valid U.S. passport (No visa necessary in South Africa).

U.S. custom form #4457: We will provide you with the documents and instructions to fill it out (You must complete the form to receive your African gun permit). This paper will list your weapons,.. We will also provide a letter of invitation from the P.H. (required) with the professional Hunters License # and his outfit #. (We will discuss all these things in great detail, along with all items needed for your Safari). This 4457 form must be signed and stamped by U.S customs. 

Note: we will also provide South African permit applications and instruction booklet SAPS520. We have done all the due diligence to make your Safari as easy as possible. We will advise on cities permits and visas depending on the country you hunt in.

40 rounds per gun! Ammunition must be locked in a plastic case, and put in your checked bag NOT YOUR GUN CASE!!!

South Africa is A MALARIA FREE ZONE! NO INOCULATIONS NECESSARY. WE WILL ADVISE ON INOCULATIONS DEPENDING ON THE COUNTRY YOU HUNT!

We will inform you of any changes in ammo and firearm details with the airlines. We recommend that you become informed about travel insurance, medical insurance, and trip cancellation insurance.

General Budget and safari planning information

Airfares: Budget $1,750-$2,800 +/- depending on departure city and time of year. Roundtrip Flights commonly depart from Atlanta, and New Jersey, directly into Johannesburg, South Africa (it's the port of Entry). From Johannesburg, you will fly to your pick-up point within South Africa. Our representative ( Big Tumi )  is  our airport guy he will meet you when you land at the airport. Tumi will also pull your gun permits for you ahead of time it saves a few hours after a long flight. the charge for this service is $125 per permit pay Tumi directly for this service. Airlink as well as all reginal airlines charge a service fee for guns its $25.

Note: If your not brining in Guns into South Africa and renting guns we offer a Meet and greet! Tumi will meet you and your party in Joburg escort you with your luggage to the hotel, he will also the next morning take you to check in for your flight to Port Elizabeth. where our team will meet you for the drive to the lodge. Tumi will also escort you to the return flight home get you checked in and safely to the check in counter. this is a service that costs $20 per hunter . well worth the money please tip him accordingly. thank you he's worth his weight in gold .

we will instruct you on how to fill out all the required permits and forms. Tumi will get you to one of our  guest houses for a good night's sleep and meals. we will make the reservations for you at one of our Hotels ,this is  not included in your Hunt The next day you will be driven by our chosen hotels , back to the airport Tumi will meet you there to get to your next  flight Tumi will help with your luggage guns ammo at the airport he makes things run smoothly please tip him accordingly , Tumi will get you to your next flight to Port Elizabeth where our team will meet you, and drive you to the lodge.

Again, clients may wish to obtain trip cancellation insurance or medical insurance to cover any unexpected circumstances. We like Berkshire Hatchway travel insurance.

Tips & gratuities: This is a personal choice. On average most hunters give their PH (professional hunter)  $150 per day for 1X1 hunt in U.S. dollars minimum. for a 2x 1 hunt each hunter should tip $110 each minimum. Typically the tracker is tipped $15 a day and the skinner $10 per day. Be sure to ask your P.H., Brendon or Joe, how to distribute the tips. The lodge staff typically receives $20  to split between the maids that clean your room, daily laundry service, etc. our Chef Jerome get $20 a day trust us when we say this he is worth it !! Again, tipping is a personal choice. Give from your heart! Bring small bills $5-$10's for extra tips for trackers on other ranches for help with game recovery. $100 in !0's $50 in 5'S

$200 a day is minimum for your PH  in Zimbabwe. Tipping in Zimbabwe is slightly higher.

Note: Two on one (2×1) means two hunters per one P.H.. One on one (1×1) means one hunter one  per one P.H.  In most cases, one on one hunts cost $50-$100 more per day.

Shipping of trophies to the U.S.: This cost will vary depending on the number of animals you take, and if you are shipping skulls and capes, or if you are shipping whole body mounts or shoulder mounts. Shipping is based on the size of a crate (cubic ft), not weigh. Capes and skulls will take about six months from start to finish. For mounted trophies, it should take 12 months from start to finish. Remember, prices vary from the port of Entry. Surcharges on air-fuel could also affect costs. These costs are based on the current dollar to rand. We will advise if anything changes.
